Who Are We?
KCBO is a for-profit organization that provides an online platform and support services to help the scalability and visibility of Black Owned business. We support the Black Owned businesses by providing potential customers with the knowledge and awareness of businesses in and around the KCMO area.
Our platform serves two purposes. We act as a modern-day phone book for consumers nationwide to access Black businesses in the KC Metro area. We also strengthen Black businesses by assisting them with marketing and advertising services to enhance their digital footprint online and connect them to resources that will help them scale.
Our Founder
Hi! I’m Chelsey! I started this business as a way to provide ongoing support to black-owned businesses. In July 2020, I noticed there was a desperate need to highlight and collaborate with black owners in the city. My hope is that supporting black-owned businesses is not just a trend, but a way of life!
KC Black Owned was started in response to a lack of centralized list for black-owned businesses. My mission is to connect consumers to a direct source while establishing a platform that locates, supports, and repeats the process with black-owned businesses in and around KCMO.
